The Women Writing the West organization supports and promotes the work of writers and other professionals in the evolving publishing field whose work is set in the North American West.
An annual conference featuring respected writers, agents, publishers and other book professionals, plus camaraderie and just plain fun. Past locations include Albuquerque, Denver, Seattle and Tucson.
The annual WILLA Literary Award (open to anyone), the DOWNING Journalism Award (open to anyone), the LAURA Short Fiction Contest (open to members only), and the annual High School Writing Contest (open to all high school students in grades 9-12, ages 13-19 worldwide).
