The Women Writing the West® Blog (WWW) is seeking submissions from members and non-members to support and promote the work of writers and other professionals in publishing, particularly work set in the North American West. Thank you for your interest!
To be considered for publication on the WWW blog, submissions:
- Should be under 1,000 words and polished.
- Should be of interest to writers seeking to improve their work and learn more about topics related to publishing, or examples of writing set in the North American West. See topic suggestions below.
- Members only: may submit information on book releases, non-WWW awards received, and other recognition news. See guidelines below.
Restrictions:
- WWW cannot work with agency writers and cannot accept submissions that include political or religious views, except as expressed by fictional characters.
Topic Suggestions:
- Writing tips
- Essays on your experiences as a writer
- Recommended resources about writing and research: software, books, blogs, podcasts, websites, conferences, writing groups, etc.
- Profiles of women writers
- Profiles of contemporary or historic women of the West
- History of the West
- Instruction on the business of writing and publishing
- Research and reference
- Poetry about the West
Book Release, Award, and Recognition Guidelines:
- Must be a WWW member.
- Awards must not be from WWW (though they may be mentioned as part of your bio).
- Recognition can include: Achievements in writing and publishing, recognition for individual book titles, articles published, professional awards.
- Should include an author bio and photograph. See general submission guidelines.
General Submission Guidelines:
- Recommended length: 500 to 1,000 words.
- Previously published material is acceptable within copyright restrictions.
- Include attribution for quotes, photographs (including licensing info), paraphrased material, and links.
- Formats: Word, Google doc, text
- Image formats: JPG or PNG
- Author bios should be 2–3 sentences. They may include up to 3 links and should be accompanied by a headshot image.
Additional considerations:
- WWW may do minimal editing to fit the blog format.
- WWW retains the right to decline submissions.
- WWW may take up to two weeks to respond to submissions.
- By submitting to the Women Writing the West blog, you agree to allow your submission, in its entirety or in part, to be shared on WWW public social media platforms, and to cross promote on your social media platforms.

- Attachments: include each item—text, photographs, links—as individual attachments.
