All Things Wilder & The LAURA Short Fiction Award

I also noticed that the kids from the Little House on the Prairie TV series were getting together for this cast reunion.

When I saw this mentioned recently, I was reminded of Women Writing the West’s short fiction contest named in honor of the “Little House” series author, Laura Ingalls Wilder.

This year, The LAURA Short Fiction Award is approaching its April 30 deadline. If there’s a past, present or futuristic short story in your desk that’s in need of polishing, dust it off and consider entering your prose.

The LAURA, now in its 15th year, was spearheaded by Past President Kathleen Ernst. The award recognizes Women Writing the West members, their short stories featuring a female protagonist, and set in the West (anywhere on the North American continent west of the Mississippi River, including Alaska and Hawaii, Canada west of Ontario, and Mexico).
