2023 WWW Conference Chair ~ Part Two

Picking up where we left off, I took Lynn up on her “big ask” to be her conference chair. As an editor, I spend most of my time working solo on the computer, and this felt like a great opportunity to get to know more people in the community of western writers that I admire.
I love editing westerns. I specialize in copyediting and proofreading western fiction and historical romances and have dabbled in action/adventure, memoirs, and nonfiction. I currently run a one-woman editing business called Armadillo Proofreading but also do contract work with Wolfpack Publishing and Kensington’s Pinnacle imprint. When I have time to read for pleasure, it’s always a western.
Lynn recruited me in October of 2021, and since then I have considered my role as conference chair an official side job. We all know it takes a village to put a successful event together. Luckily, I have a great team:
Ann Edall-Robson (marketing)
Vicki Felmlee (registrar)
Betsy Randolph (sponsors)
Kathy Sechrist (Book Corral)
Carolyn Dufurrena (moderator coordinator)
Kelly Richardson (pitch coordinator)
Jennifer Brown (volunteer coordinator)
We are working together to bring to you inspiring presentations from authors with a diverse background of experiences. There’ll be a chance for you to pitch to agents and editors, and to hear what those agents and editors are looking for. They will share with us what is currently happening in the industry.
We have sessions on writing craft. There will be several topics covered. Sessions will run simultaneously, and because we are virtual this year, most sessions will be recorded and offered as an add-on for you to have after the conference. This way you won’t miss anything!
This conference will be full of education and is a great opportunity to meet the professionals in the field. I hope you will learn new things, find inspiration, and discover new authors to admire.
If any of you will be in Rapid City this June for the Western Writers of America convention, please say hi if you see me. I would love to meet more of you in person.
In the next blog installment, I’ll talk about all the session topics and any updates as we get closer to showtime.

Sounds like the conference committees have been working hard to bring us another great conference. I’m looking forward to seeing (virtually) everyone. You’re doing a great job. Thank you. Deborah
