Roni McFadden Releases New Book

Romeo and Emilia

How one brave girl rose up from a wheelchair onto the back of a horse. A true story told from the perspective of 11 year old Emilia, describing her feelings and reactions as her wildest dreams to ride a real live horse comes true.  

After spending the first four years of her life in a wheelchair and then graduating to a walker, at age five and a half she was able to ditch the walker.  She still uses a wheelchair for long distances, but she now enjoys walking and running as fast as her legs will carry her.  In fact she joined the Cross Country Team of her middle school in 2023 at age 12.  She is a bright, funny, lovable young lady who has loved horses since she saw the movie “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron” when she was young. 

Roni McFadden is the mother of 4, grandmother of 14 and has 4 great-grandsons with a great-grandDAUGHTER on the way. As a young teen, Roni worked at a pack station in the High Sierras where she became head wrangler at age 16, living year round here for several years.  
After not owning a horse of her own for eighteen years, Romeo, a stunning Leopard Appaloosa came into her life. Now they travel the beautiful mountains in North Idaho.

Roni’s book, The Longest Trail, is a multiple award winning book about her life and memories of those years. She is also the author of another children’s book titled, Josephine ~ A Tale of Hope and Happy Endings.
